Turkish minister tried to manipulate newspaper ads: Report
Former Environment Minister ErdoÄan Bayraktar, who resigned from his position after the Dec. 17 graft probe, allegedly manipulated newspaper ads to ânurtureâ the pro-government media, according to a summary of proceedings sent to the Justice Ministry, daily Cumhuriyet reported May 28.
Selakovic, Frattini on Chapter 23
BELGRADE - Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic and special advisor to the government of Serbia Franco Frattini conferred Tuesday on the results achieved by the Justice Ministry so far and on preparations for the start of negotiations on Chapter 23, relating to judiciary and fundamental rights, the Ministry stated in a release.

Bulgaria's Prison Guards Ready to Go On Strike
The trade union of the prison guards in Bulgaria is ready to announce a general strike of its members, its leader Ivan Petrov told the bTV national channel.
“We are seeking solutions to the problems of those working in the prisons and are preparing a petition for changing the work shifts from 24-hour to 12-hour,” Petrov said.

Greek official requests investigation into new prisoner death
The Justice Ministrys general secretary for crime-fighting policies, Marinos Skandamis, on Thursday asked a prosecutor to launch an investigation into the death of an Albanian inmate at Aghios Stefanos Prison near Patra, western Greece, during a brawl.
