Top court to discuss Androulakis’ challenge of wiretapping regulation on Friday

Greece's Council of State will discuss on Friday a petition by PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis requesting that a government regulation forbidding the independent authority responsible for privacy, ADAE, from informing those who have been previously monitored by the National Intelligence Service to be declared unconstitutional.

PASOK chief rules out coalition with New Democracy

PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis interprets the result of the May 21 election, which gave the conservatives a 20-percentage point lead over the main opposition, as a failure of SYRIZA and categorically dismisses any possibility of cooperation with New Democracy, even if the latter does not secure an outright majority.

Political leaders engage in campaign activities ahead of elections

Ahead of the upcoming elections on Sunday, May 21, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to visit the Athens suburb of Zografou Monday. Later in the evening, at 7 p.m., Mitsotakis will address a New Democracy event at the Nikos Kazantzakis Theatre in Iraklio, Crete.

New Democracy 4.8 points ahead in MRB poll

A new opinion poll of voting intentions gives ruling center-right New Democracy a 4.8-percentage point lead over left-wing SYRIZA.

Asked about their voting preferences for the May 21 election by pollster MRB, 29.7% chose New Democracy, 24.9% SYRIZA, 8.3% socialist PASOK-Movement for Change, 5.1% Communist KKE, 4.6% nationalist Greek Solution and 3.2% left-wing MeRA25.

Opinion poll shows ND lead widening

A new opinion poll shows the ruling center-right New Democracy leading left-wing Syriza by 6.5% in voting intentions.

The poll, based on a sample of 1,051, was done by research firm Pulse and commission by TV station Skai.

The previous poll, conducted on April 4, had showed New Democracy 4% ahead of Syriza.

Androulakis resigning as MEP to run in general elections

The leader of the centre-left opposition party PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, initiated on Wednesday the process for his resignation as a member of the European Parliament, in order to run in Greece's upcoming elections.

The move came after Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced  that the elections will be held on May 21.
