First joint exams held for 6th, 9th graders across Türkiye

The second written exam of the first semester in the 2023-2024 academic year will take place as a joint exam in mathematics and Turkish language and literature for sixth and ninth graders across Türkiye on Dec. 26-27 for the first time.

Depending on the outcome and success of the pilot test, the National Education Ministry will apply the practice to other subjects.

In-person classes to be determined locally: Ministry

Based on local virus risk levels, Turkey's provincial health institutions will determine whether in-person education for certain grades continues, the National Education Ministry announced late on March 29. 

The criteria announced on March 1 will be effective in determining the course of in-person education, said a ministry statement.

Turkey details upcoming in-class school lessons

Turkey will partially resume face-to-face school lessons for the 12th grade on March 1, the National Education Ministry announced on Feb. 12. 

The second semester of the 2020-2021 school year will start Monday with distance education, said the ministry in a statement, adding that as of March 1, in-class lessons would start for students in the 12th grade with reduced student numbers.

Schools resuming face-to-face lessons in late Aug

Late this summer, Turkey is set to make up for education missed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the country's National Education Ministry said on June 3. 

The distance education program implemented during the outbreak will end on June 19 as the country enters a normalization period thanks to its success in slowing down the virus' spread, said the ministry in a statement.

Turkey ramps up COVID-19 precautions as Erdoğan postpones foreign visits

Turkey will close its primary, secondary and high schools for two weeks, with remote education to begin in the second week as part of precautions against the novel coronavirus.

The announcement came after a five-hour meeting at the presidential complex amid the global coronavirus outbreak.
