If it were possible to summarize the U.S. strategy in one sentence it could be: âTo win a war against Islamist radicals without actually fighting on the ground.â
This has nothing to do with a proxy war, not any longer. This is now something a level up; perhaps it would be more correct to call it a âremote-controlled war.â

Obama to set out plan to go on offensive against Islamic State

US planes strike militants, drop aid near ethnic Turkmen town
The United States carried out air strikes on Aug. 30 against Islamic State fighters near the besieged Turkmen town of Amerli in northern Iraq and airdropped humanitarian aid to civilians trapped there, the Pentagon said.
