Acting Prime Minister Ludovic Orban states that the National Liberal Party (PNL) is in a "life-or-death fight," with the Social Democratic Party (PSD), and early elections are needed because "a normal government" can no longer coexist with a parliamentary structure dominated by Social Democrats who "torpedo everything".

Prime minister-designate Ludovic Orban said on Thursday, after talks with the delegation of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE), that as a principle, the formation headed by Calin Popescu-Tariceanu did not raise any issue and that the Liberals also favor a PNL single-party government.

The Senate and the Deputies' Chamber are convening on Thursday morning in a joint meeting for the reading of the censure motion, which will be debated and voted next week, on 10 October.

The National Liberal Party (PNL) invites all those who want to support the Liberals' governance programme, launched to public debate on Saturday, to join this project for generating a parliamentary majority to change the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Government, PNL co-chair Alina Gorghiu said.

All the national organisations of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) are asking the Ombudsman to notify the Constitutional Court of Romania immediately abut Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) 49 /2014, after PDL did so on July 4.
