The ruling Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) party has invited citizens to rally as part of the strike action being carried out by unions against the government’s very own bailout deal.

State Minister Alekos Flambouraris told state broadcaster ERT TV late on Monday that the government is meeting the needs of the Greek people that voted for it.

The Greek leftist government needs to complete reforms on social security with pressure being amped by international creditors (EC, ECB, ESM, IMF) at a time when Greece’s opposition parties are turning their back and unions are pressuring with threats of strike action.

Main opposition conservative New Democracy members will head to the polling booths on Sunday, November 22, to elect their party leader. 781,136 liberal supporters (around a third of the party’s voters) had shown up to vote in the first internal elections held by liberals in November 2009 in relation to the October elections held in that same year.
