The ruling Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) party has invited citizens to rally as part of the strike action being carried out by unions against the government’s very own bailout deal.

The content and details concerning a meeting of political party leaders of Parliament is expected to be decided upon on Friday. Responding to a media report on private TV channel MEGA that said that the representatives of institutions had asked for the meeting to convene, the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) ruling party released a statement:

Party leaders of Greek Parliament viewed the initiative of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to hold a meeting of party leaders with suspicion. The PM called Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Thursday, calling for a meeting to brief leaders on the refugee crisis and pension system reforms, however opposition parties are cautious and reserved regarding the meeting.
Greek PM calls for Greek President to call political leaders’ meeting
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras made telephone contact with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos while on his trip to Israel. He called for a meeting of political leaders following the return of the president from an official visit to Rome.
The political leaders may meet on the weekend as Pavlopoulos is scheduled to arrive in Athens on Friday.
