Customs agency head Vanyo Tanov has said authorities are now inspecting Lukoil Neftochim over accusations of price rigging hurled in a report.

Last week the Risk Management Lab, a think-tank headed by former Prime Minister (1997-2001) claimed that for 8 years Lukoil Bulgaria had been manipulating prices of the Urals crude imported for its Bulgaria-based facility in Burgas.

Former Bulgarian Prime Minister Ivan Kostov has asked the head of a Burgas-based Lukoil refinery for access to import contracts of crude oil.

Lukoil has threatened to sue the Risk Management Lab at the New Bulgarian University over a recent report stating that the Burgas-based Lukoil Neftochim refinery deprived the state budget of over BGN 1 B through inflated prices.

Lukoil Bulgaria is responsible for "artificial" prices of petrol in the country, a research team led by former PM Ivan Kostov has claimed.
