Putin secures landslide victory in Russian election

Voter turnout in the Russian presidential election reached 67.4% as of 6.52 a.m. Moscow Time, Russia's Central Election Commission reported.

The Central Election Commission continues counting the votes on Monday.

Russia's incumbent head of state Vladimir Putin has garnered 76.67% of the vote in the March 18 election with 99.79% of the ballots counted.

Russia to Hold Presidential Vote in Pro-Putin Transnistria

Russia's Central Election Commission is sending 192,000 ballot papers to Moldova's breakaway region of Transnistria, where people with Russian citizenship will be able to vote in the March 18 presidential elections.

The leader of the region, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said on Monday in Moscow that Transnistria wants to provide more votes than ever before at the Russian presidential polls.

Likhachov: We need to show special approach to Serbia

BELGRADE - Vassily Likhachov, a member of Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC) who led a CEC observation delegation at Sunday's early parliamentary election in Serbia has said that Russia should adopt a special position regarding Serbia as the West were trying to keep the country far away from Russia.
