Turkey should avoid arguments with Turkish Cyprus' new leadership

A new era began in northern Cyprus on April 26 with the election of Mustafa Ak?nc? as president of Turkish Cyprus. Not because Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an slammed Ak?nc? over his description of his country?s relationship with Turkey as ?two equal brothers? instead of ?motherland and babyland,?

'Still here, still bleeding'

I happened to be in Beirut last week. It was a good chance to catch up with Lebanese and regional politics and see friends. Besides, I could follow the Armenian Genocide commemoration. It was a sad week for Lebanon to mark two tragic events, since it also marked the 40th anniversary of the Lebanese civil war. 

Armenian rallies in Greece for recognition of the Genocide

Armenians in Greece held a memorial service in Nea Smyrni, south of Athens, to commemorate the centennial of the Armenian genocide. The service was held at the memorial of genocide victims at Chrysostomou Smyrnis Square on Friday afternoon, before a gathering at Syntagma Square. Protestors then marched to the Turkish Embassy as a sign of protest.

The hourglass measures time in a very strange way. Unlike our round watches, or digital timekeepers, it does not treat every sand particle equally. Towards the end it speeds up. Tiny sand particles that are left at the end drop so fast that one wishes to stop it at some point.

EU Minister to attend April 24 ceremony at Armenian Patriarchate

EU Minister Volkan Bozk?r will represent the Turkish government at a religious ceremony to be held at the Armenian Patriarchate on April 24 to honor the memory of Anatolian Armenians killed during World War I. The ceremony will be the first for the Armenian Patriarchate in Istanbul.
