Financial support to cover more workers in eatery sector

The government is widening the scope of financial support for people working in Turkey's large eatery industry that is among the sectors that suffered most from the COVID-19-related restrictions.

Parliament's planning and budget commission passed legislation which regulates the financial support for the workers in the sector.

Turkey ranks 22nd most popular spot for foreign direct investors: Association

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Turkey was $12.1 billion in 2014, making the country the 22nd most popular spot for investors in the world, while the country is expected take in another $12 billion this year, said Ahmet Erdem, head of the International Investors Association (YASED), in a joint meeting with the United Nation's Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on June 24. 

Turkish energy minister hopeful from Shell, TPAO drilling in Black Sea

Shell and Turkish Petroleum have begun drilling activities in the Black Sea this month, one year earlier than originally planned, representatives from the companies said Jan. 6 at a press conference to launch the activities.

Energy Minister Taner Y?ld?z said he was optimistic for the drilling, as the site is very close to where Romania has made new discoveries.
