The Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), which aims to create a transnational fiber-optic backbone by linking Frankfurt to Hong Kong, will be at least as important as the $10 billion Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Project (TANAP), Azerbaijan's communication and information technologies minister has said.

Turkey and Azerbaijan play a significant role in bringing together and enhancing the relations between the region's countries, Vice President of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Ali Hasanov said, with the 18th Eurasian Economic Summit contributing to this goal.

Azerbaijan's President Alham Aliyev is on a visit to Sofia along with ministers of foreign affairs, transport economy, energy and communication.

A number of Turkish-speaking countries came together to discuss how to strengthen cooperation in education at the 5th Turkish National Commission for UNESCO meeting in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, on Dec. 18.

The meeting's main purpose was to discuss mechanisms that enable the International Organization of Turkic Culture to act together.
