An own goal sufficed for Greece to beat Finland 1-0 in Athens on Thursday, but did not suffice to avert Greece's elimination from the Nations League, on the debut of coach Angelos Anastasiadis on the Greece bench.

The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) presented on Monday the new Greece manager Angelos Anastasiadis, who has just called up his first squad to face Finland and Estonia in the last pair of games in this year's UEFA Nations League on Thursday and Sunday.

The Hellenic Football Federation on Thursday announced the appointment of 65-year-old Angelos Anastasiadis as coach of the national team after German manager Michael Skibbe was sacked. Greece has parted ways with German coach Michael Skibbe after the team's disappointing run in the Nations League, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) said on Thursday.

EPO appointed 65-year-old Angelos Anastasiadis as his successor, the first Greek coach for the national team, who is not an interim solution, in 17 years.

Olympiakos sealed its fifth consecutive Super League title triumph with a 4-0 win over Levadiakos on Sunday, while PAOK leapfrogged over Panathinaikos who lost again.

PAOK has parted company with coach Angelos Anastasiadis, the Greek Super League club announced on Monday.

The 62-year-old's third spell at the helm has come to an end following a goalless draw at home to Asteras Tripolis on Saturday which left the team in third, 10 points adrift of leader Olympiakos Piraeus and seven from second-placed Panathinaikos.

Greece named youth coach Costas Tsanas as interim coach of the senior national team on Sunday but there was no official confirmation yet of the sacking of Italian Claudio Ranieri.

The country's soccer federation (EPO) has effectively suspended Ranieri for the time being as both sides work out the financial settlement surrounding his 1.6 million-euro contract.

There was a triple success for Greek soccer on Thursday as PAOK, Panathinaikos and Asteras Tripolis made it through to the Europa League group stage.

PAOK has appealed against a three-point deduction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after crowd trouble eventually cost it a place in next season's Champions League, the Greek club said on Tuesday.
