Bulgaria: Heavy Rains Cause Rivers to Overflow, Emergency Situation Declared in Tran

Heavy rains in recent days have increased river levels in Pernik region. In some places rivers have overflown their banks and caused flooding, and a state of emergency was declared in the town of Tran, BNR reported. It is in force as of today and will last for 7 days.

Ballet festival at Aspendos

The 24th International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival, organized by the State Opera and Ballet Directorate, will be held between Aug. 23 and Sept. 4 at the Aspendos Ancient Theater in the southern province of Antalya. 

The event will commence with Verdi's opera "Aida," to be performed by the Antalya State Opera and Ballet.

Ernani opera on stage in Turkey 170 years on

Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi's "Ernani" opera, which was first staged in Turkey in 1846 at the Naum Theater by Italian artists, will be staged once again for the first time in 170 years. 
According to a statement issued by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, the first performance will be given on Nov. 26 at the Süreyya Opera Theater in Kadıköy,  

Bulgarian Athlete Becomes New Balkan Cycling Champion

Bulgarian athlete has won a first prize in the Balkan Cycling Championship for the first time in a number of years now.

The 27 year old Nikolay Mihaylov managed to secure the gold medal after winning in the individual race in Bijeljina (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on a 23,8 kilometer route, featuring 7 dangerous turns on track.
