The Greek National Opera presents Charles Gounod's dramatic "Romeo and Juliet" at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), marking the bicentenary of the composer's birth in a production directed by Greece's Nikos Mastorakis and featuring Ismael Jordi and Myrto Papatanasiu as the star-crossed lovers. Shows start at 7.30 p.m. on March 2 and 7 and at 6.30 p.m. on March 4 and 11.

The Athens Concert Hall is screening a live broadcast of Charles Gounod's opera "Romeo et Juliette" from the Metropolitan Opera in New York on Saturday, January 21.

"Faust," an opera by French composer Charles Gounod, is set to be staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. The premiere of the ballet will be held on Feb. 13 at the Kad?köy Süreyya Opera House and will run until March 29.

The southern Turkish province of Antalya's historic Aspendos Theater will host the 22nd International Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival from Sept. 5-24. This year, Turkish officials' focus is on attracting local tourists to the festival, which has always been popular among foreign tourists.

The 6th International Istanbul Opera Festival, organized by the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet, will open on June 8 with the famous "Abduction from Seraglio," which has become a symbol of the festival.

The opera will also be staged on June 9 by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet at the Istanbul Archaeological Museum Garden.
