President Klaus Iohannis on Monday, after the first round of consultations with representatives of the parties and political formations represented in Parliament, has said that the conditions for designating a candidate to the prime minister office have not been met yet.

In the future Parliament, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) will have 47 seats in the Senate and 110 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, while the National Liberal Party (PNL) obtained 41 seats in the Senate and 93 in the Chamber of Deputies, respectively, according to the data the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) presented on Monday.

The Government approved the decision under which the state of alert on the entire territory of Romania is extended by 30 days, starting December 14, Government representatives informed on Friday. The Government Decision was adopted according to the proposals approved in the National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU) meeting on Thursday.

A number of 7,067 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were registered in the last 24 hours, following 31,437 tests processed nationwide, the Group of Strategic Communication (GCS) informs on Thursday. PMP's (People's Movement Party) Eugen Tomac on Wednesday announced he resigned as chair of this political party following the results recorded in the parliamentary election. The interim leadership of the party will be taken over by the executive chair of PMP, Marius Pascan, according to Tomac.
