The Turkish Lira continued to plunge to record lows on Aug. 14, as the country braces for new elections after failed coalition talks between the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Republican People's Party (CHP) amid escalating clashes with Kurdish militants and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Turkish President Tayyip Erdo?an intervened in the talks between the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) and the Republican People?s Party (CHP) in pursuit of a coalition government on Aug. 12, publicly questioning the nature of such a prospective coalition.

The leaders of the de facto ruling and main opposition parties are set to meet Aug. 13 for a make-or-break meeting on a coalition, but President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has expressed doubts about the possibilities, insisting that the country needs a strong political will to resolve its problems. 

One: We may say in advance the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) may increase its votes a few points. Where will those points come from? Of course they will come from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP)? 

A senior lawmaker from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has blamed President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an for the possible failure of the coalition-making process between the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Republican People's Party (CHP) while noting the difficulty of organizing early elections.

According to his political advisor Metin Özkan, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has a complete list of 3,000 people, who his leader Devlet Bahçeli called as ?Those who live at waterfront residences, drink whisky and vote for the Peoples? Democratic Party [HDP].?

Could there be a mathematical error, chief Bahçeli? 

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has issued a criminal complaint against senior Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) officials, including leader Devlet Bahçeli, for inciting people to hatred and hostility as well insulting people.
