Five Police Officers Detained in Sofia for Corruption and Blackmailing Traders

Five police officers from the economic police unit of the Fourth Regional Police Station in Sofia were detained on 24th of January in a joint operation by the police and the special prosecutor's office. They have been investigated for allegedly taking money and blackmailing traders working in the Lozenets district of Sofia, reports BNT. 

45-Year-Old Bulgarian Citizen Accused of Bomb Threats in the Capital

The National Palace of the Culture (one of the most important buildings for the meetings scheduled to take place during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU) was evacuated on 12th of January over a bomb threat. After several bomb alerts in the capital the police found the perpetrator. 

This is a 45-year-old Bulgarian citizen who is on the territory of an EU country.

Police Officer was Found Shot in Sofia's Mladost Quarter

A policeman was found shot in the head in a bl. 30 in the metropolitan quarter of Mladost 1. According to the director of the SDRC, Commissioner Ivaylo Ivanov, reports webcafe. 

He said that the MoI official was accommodated in the District Hospital, and the circumstances are being clarified at the moment.

Parliament Will Vote For a New Governor of the National Social Security Institute

At an extraordinary session MPs will vote for a new governor of the National Social Security Institute.

The only nomination for the post is Deputy Social Minister Ivaylo Ivanov. He is a candidate of GERB and United Patriots.

The procedure for the election of a NSI governor was announced after Bisser Petkov became Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the Borisov 3 Cabinet.
