Indonesia's President Joko Widodo has ordered the police to shoot drug traffickers who resist arrest in the latest effort to eradicate drug use in the country.

In a speech to one of Indonesia's political parties late Friday, Widodo urged law enforcers to crackdown on drug dealers in Indonesia.  

Turkey's leading defense companies Aselsan and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI, also known as TUSAŞ) signed a deal with the Indonesian companies PT Dirgantara and PT Len on July 6 to collaborate on defense products.

Turkey has deported 5,000 people suspected of being linked to terrorist activities and banned 53,000 people from entering the country, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said. 

Indonesian anti-terrorism police killed three suspects after a gunfight on the outskirts of the capital, Jakarta, on Dec. 21, and foiled a suicide bomb plot, a police spokesman said. 

Tens of thousands of Muslims poured into central Jakarta on Dec. 2, to protest against the city's governor, a Christian accused of insulting the Koran, fuelling tension that has alarmed Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
 

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic arrived on a three-day visit to the Republic of Indonesia, where he was greeted by Minister of Transportation Ignatius Jonan, on Tuesday.
    
The two nations share a love of peace and freedom, and their friendship is built on firm foundations dating back to the times of the Non-Aligned Movement, Nikolic and Jonan said.
    

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Tuesday started his three-day visit Indonesia, at the invitation of his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo.

Nikolic's official Facebook page on Tuesday featured a photograph from the airport in Jakarta, that showed a welcoming billboard with images of the Serbian president and his wife and those of Widodo and his wife.

Thousands of Indonesian taxi drivers staged a violent protest March 22 against Uber and other ride-hailing services, blocking major roads in the capital, clashing with drivers from app-based rivals and setting tires alight.

A massive earthquake struck on March 2 off the Indonesian island of Sumatra, a region devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean quake and tsunami, but initial fears of another region-wide disaster faded as tsunami warnings were cancelled. 

Militants launched a gun and bomb assault killing at least six people in Indonesian capital Jakarta on Thursday.

Police said the attack followed a threat by Islamic State fighters to put the country in their “spotlight”, as Reuters reports.
