Development Minister Kostas Skrekas, addressing the Panhellenic Exporters Association on Wednesday, said that sustainable growth rates cannot be ensured without expanding the country's production base, underlining the effort being made to sustain the growth rate over time.

The government is redesigning the e-katanalotis platform so that the consumer knows the exact cost of the products they want to buy at supermarkets around their home and where they will find the cheapest prices, Development Minister Kostas Skrekas said on Thursday speaking to ANT1 TV.

The Development Ministry imposed fines totaling 243,000 euros on six businesses in the wider area of the northern port city of Thessaloniki for counterfeit products. 

During inspections conducted by the Market Control Interagency Unit (DI.M.E.A.), 34,626 counterfeit items were seized and destroyed. 

A 17% average decrease in starting prices for 100 menstrual products has been recorded as of Wednesday.

These products are added to the categories that, as announced by Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas, have been part of the intervention since March 1, limiting the total discounts of suppliers in supermarkets by 30% and transferring the corresponding benefit to the consumer.

The initial feedback regarding the "Lenten Basket" initiative is encouraging, as per reports from Ministry of Development officials.

Prices for the most essential items that typically feature on the Lenten menu are either lower or comparable to last year's figures.

Average price reductions of 15% in certain product categories, due to the government's measures, have been recorded since March 1, Development Minister Kostas Skrekas told Skai TV on Wednesday.
