Qatar hits out at neighbors as Arab rift enters 3rd week

Qatar hit out on June 19 at four Arab nations for cutting diplomatic ties and transport links over Doha's alleged support for terrorism, accusing them of a "publicity stunt" aimed solely at attacking its image and reputation.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut ties with Qatar on June 5 in the worst diplomatic crisis in the region in years. 

Turkish FM to meet Saudi king for talks over Qatar crisis

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will visit Mecca on June 16 and meet Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud as part of Turkey's efforts to calm down the ongoing crisis between Qatar and other Gulf countries. 

Çavuşoğlu will share "Turkey's sincere opinion" regarding the crisis during his visit to Mecca, he said in Kuwait on June 16 after talks in Qatar on June 15.

President Erdoğan ratifies deals on troop, warplane deployment to Qatar

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan late on June 8 ratified two deals on deploying Turkish troops to Qatar and training the Gulf nation's gendarmerie forces, paving way for Turkey to send warships and warplanes to the country, which has been facing a diplomatic dispute with several Arab countries. 

Turkey to deploy troops to Qatar

President Recep Erdogan of Turkey has ratified legislation, which were fast-tracked by its parliament, to deploy Turkish troops to Qatar. The training and assistance mission will boost the "security of the entire region," the Qatari foreign minister said amid a diplomatic rift with its Gulf neighbors.
