The Scottish Parliament Votes in Favor of a New Referendum on Independence
The government's proposal to get power to hold a new referendum on Scotland's independence was backed by parliament, National reported.
A majority of MPs (64 to 54) voted in favor of the proposal, arguing that "a referendum must be held for the people of Scotland to decide whether it wants to become an independent state".
Boris Johnson Rejected Sturgeon's Demand for Referendum
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent a letter to Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon rejecting her request for a referendum on Scotland's independence, Reuters reported.
Such a referendum cannot be produced without the consent of the British Government.
