Whistleblowers Get Better Protection in Serbia

A new law offering stronger protection to those who reveal abuses and corruption goes into effect in Serbia this week.

So far whistleblowers have had only administrative protection from the Anti-corruption Agency, but now they are entitled to court protection if they seek re-employment having been dismissed for reporting corruption, for example.

Justice Ministry receives Hague Appeals Chamber request

Hague Tribunal Appeals Chamber’s order to deliver Vojislav Seselj back to the detention unit has officially arrived to the Serbian Justice Ministry.

According to Tanjug, Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic informed Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz of this during their meeting in Belgrade on Tuesday.

Selakovic: Higher level of cooperation with Brussels

BRUSSELS - The ministry will step up the cooperation with relevant EU services so as to speed up preparations for opening negotiation chapters, Serbia's Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic said on Thursday during his visit to Brussels.

"We will strengthen the cooperation and upgrade it," Selakovic said after meeting EU Commissioner for Justice Vera Jourova.
