Former head of Tadić's cabinet passes away

BELGRADE -- Former high ranking official of the Democratic Party (DS) and one of the closest associates of Boris Tadić, Miodrag Miki Rakić, has died.

Rakić, born in 1975 in Žitorađa, passed away after a long and serious illness, in Belgrade's military clinic VMA.

Rakic, the candidate from the Belgrade-backed ‘Srpska’ list, took 52.6 per cent of the vote in Sunday’s re-run polls to win the mayoralty, according to preliminary results published by the Kosovo Central Election Commission.
