As Turkey's political leaders continue to trade harsh epithets in the aftermath of a sexual abuse scandal, President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has filed yet another complaint against the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader on "insult" charges, demanding 100,000 liras in compensation for non-pecuniary damages.

A co-leader of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has admitted problems with the strategy of declaring autonomy in Southeast Anatolia and the erection of barricades that have resulted in massive battles, while again calling for dialogue to solve Turkey's Kurdish problem.

In his speeches to Turkish audiences but addressing world leaders, President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an often says that "there should be no good terrorists and bad terrorists" and that "terrorists are terrorists." He's right. But he is not realistic at all if he is seriously expecting the entire world to agree on his own definition of who is a terrorist and who is not. 

On Feb 28, 2015, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an became one of the first regional leaders to visit Riyadh to hold extensive talks with Saudi Arabia's new leader, King Salman, who was crowned in January of that year. Since then, the relationship between the two countries has shown a steady progress through consecutive high-level talks. 

Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke on April 12 about the importance of free speech as Berlin weighs a Turkish request to prosecute a German TV satirist who criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, saying that her country was examining the request. 

The government is trying to protect "thieves and child abusers," main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chair Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu has said, in a fiery speech that also directed criticism at President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an. 

The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will not "surrender" to the Gülen movement, its head Devlet Bahçeli said on April 12, commenting on challenges to his leadership after an Ankara court's appointment of a three-member panel to organize an extraordinary congress.

Turkey has decorated Saudi Arabia's visiting King Salman with its highest state medal in recognition of the two countries' close ties, with President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an extending his guest a lavish welcome after the latter's arrival on April 11.
