Jazz in Church Festival to take place over April 23 - 26 at Lutheran Church in Bucharest

The 8th edition of the Jazz in Church Festival will take place over April 23-26 at the Lutheran Church in Bucharest, informs a press release of the Jazz.ro Association sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday. Participating in the festival will be 20 artists from all over the world, who will perform jazz, medieval music, contemporary pieces and improvisations.

Cannes Film Festival: 2019 Lineup

The festival announced its lineup on Thursday, with a slate that includes four female directors in competition for the Palme d'Or prize.

The Dead Do not Die zombie movie will open the racing program. It is the work of American independent director Jim Jarmusch, who in 1984 received the Golden Palm Prize.

Pina Bausch Tribute | Athens | December 18-21

In "New Piece 1: Since She," at the Onassis Cultural Center, acclaimed Greek choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou pays tribute to Pina Bausch nine years after her death, with a series of wonderful tableux vivants referencing landmark works by the German dance legend, accompanied by music by Verdi, Mahler, Wagner, Prokofiev and Tom Waits.

Warhaus | Athens & Thessaloniki | April 20 & 21

Maarten Devoldere, frontman of Belgian rock act Balthazar comes to Greece in his solo alter ego as Warhaus to perform the moody rock that has seen fans liken him to Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen, as part of the promo tour for his new self-titled album. He will play the Gagarin 205 venue in Athens on Friday and We in Thessaloniki on Saturday.

Madeleine Peyroux | Athens | November 18

American jazz and blues singer-songwriter Madeleine Peyroux returns to Athens for a single performance at the PassPort venue in Kerameikos, central Athens, on November 18. The artist will perform tracks from "Secular Hymns," an album featuring compositions by Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Allen Toussaint and Willie Dixon, among others. The concert starts at 9 p.m.
