President Klaus Iohannis has taken over the term of head of state on Sunday, at the Cotroceni Palace.

Klaus Iohannis and his wife, Carmen, arrived on Sunday at the Cotroceni Palace. The Guard Regiment saluted the new President during a military ceremony.

President-elect Klaus Iohannis on Sunday is set to take his presidential oath of office in front of the Parliament, following in the same day to undertake his duties as head of state from Traian Basescu, during a handover ceremony to take place at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.

Traian Basescu holds last press conference as head of state on Saturday

President Traian Basescu will hold his last press conference as head of state at the Cotroceni Palace on Saturday.

According to the Presidential Administration, the press conference is scheduled at 18,00. On this occasion, President Traian Basescu is expected to present the report of his activity with Romania's Presidency.
