Near the Trajan's Gate tunnels on the Trakia highway, Bulgarian police officers intercepted a pickup truck suspected of transporting illegal migrants. Around 3:00 p.m., authorities discovered six migrants from Syria concealed within the vehicle.

Archaeology in Bulgaria reports that a team of researchers led by archaeologist Kalin Chakarov of the Pavlikeni Museum of History has investigated a water catchment reservoir at a spring inside Musina Cave, a water source that supplied the ancient city of Nicopolis ad Istrum. The city was founded by Emperor Trajan in the early second century A.D.

During archaeological work this summer at the ancient Roman fortress of Sostra near the Bulgarian town of Troyan, three residential buildings dating back to the lll-lV century and used by the Roman military were discovered, reported the Bulgarian National Television.

Precious silver, bronze and copper coins and a very rare find - a measure used to weight gold coins were found too.

The Ephesus Archaeological Museum, which was temporarily closed in 2012 for the renewal of merchandizing, was reopened last month by Culture and Tourism Minister Ömer Çelik. The number of artifacts in the museum on display for visitors has increased five-fold.
