GERB postpones the ratification process of the Istanbul Convention to parliament, party leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov announced. In his words, the aim is to hold debates on the subject.

Bulgaria's parliament on Friday overturned a presidential veto on anti-graft legislation, clearing the way for the creation of a special unit to investigate individuals occupying high public office as well as assets and conflicts of interest, writes Reuters.

Bulgarian MPs voted with absolute majority on withdrawing a controversial moratorium on public funding for innovative drugs on Thursday.

The parliamentary group of GERB, the majority partner in Bulgaria's coalition government, will propose a removal of the moratorium on reimbursement of innovative medication and new therapies by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

MPs elected Emil Hristov from GERB as Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, BGNES reported.

Hristov was elected by 123 votes in favor, 7 against and 48 abstentions.

Around 5800 refugees have attempted to cross the Bulgarian border illegally since the beginning of the year. This was made clear by a presentation of Deputy Director of the Border Police Stoyan Ivanov, during the conference "The Refugee Crisis and the Development of the Migration Processes". For 2016, border pressure was about 7 times higher - over 40,000 impeded attempts to enter Bulgaria.

Bulgaria's progress in all spheres is visible throughout Europe, and Boyko Borisov's government has undoubtedly contributed to this.

This was stated by the European Parliament's rapporteur for the Europol Regulation, Agustin Dias de Merra, during a working meeting with the GERB Parliament Speaker and Deputy Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

''We are at the beginning of a stable mandate that relies on transparency.''This was assured by the chairman of GERB  Tsvetan Tsvetanov, reported BGNES.

According to Tsvetanov today, our country needs a constructive dialogue because we are ahead of our presidency. "In all these events, which are planned by the Bulgarian Parliament, let us be united," Tsvetan Tsvetanov urged.

The members of the Bulgarian Parliament will be on a summer recess until 31 August bases on the rules and procedures of the National Assembly, reported BNR.

They held today their last meeting for this plenary session.

The new plenary session opens on September 1 at 9 AM.
