A Turkish court has released an Israeli footballer after he was detained over showing a pro-Israel message referring to the Gaza war during a match of his club Antalyaspor.

Israel's defense minister accused Turkey on Monday of serving as a "de facto executive arm of Hamas" following the police detention in Antalya of an Israeli soccer player who made a show of solidarity with Gaza war hostages during a top-tier match.

Israel withdrew its negotiating team from Qatar and launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in the new phase of its offensive against Hamas after a week-long truce. The Islamist group said it would continue negotiations for the release of more hostages only after the end of the war in Gaza. According to Hamas, the new Israeli attacks have claimed more than 190 victims.
