The proliferation of gazebos and sheds within the southern province of Antalya's sea turtle breeding areas continues to skyrocket, defying demolition orders and raising the alarm, as their local population is anticipated to increase to an estimated 5,000 during Eid.

While the demolition decision has not been implemented for 700 gazebos on the southern province of Antalya's Kumköy coast, previously declared a nesting area for endangered caretta carettas, new gazebos have also been started to be built.

All residents in China's restive region of Xinjiang must hand in their passports to local police stations for "examination and management", the Global Times newspaper said yesterday.

"Anyone who needs the passport must apply to the police station," an anonymous police officer in Aksu prefecture told the paper, adding that the policy had been implemented throughout Xinjiang.
