Turkey's home appliances giant starts investment plans to establish new factory for 70 mln euros

Turkey's Vestel Home Appliances has announced new investment works to establish a new washing machine and drier factory in the Aegean province of Manisa for around 70 million euros. 

The company said in a Dec. 27 statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that it was conducting talks with lenders and financial institutions to secure the required financing. 

Police who killed child sentenced to prison in Turkey's southeast

A police officer who shot and killed a 12-year-old child in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of Şırnak has been sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison. 

The special operations police officer, Mehmet N.G., was sentenced by the Cizre First Court of Serious Crimes for killing Nihat Kazanhan, Doğan News Agency reported on Nov. 11.

Tissue seller with disabilities killed by hit-and-run driver in Ankara

A man with disabilities who was selling tissues in Ankara has been killed after being hit by a car late on Oct. 25.

The incident occurred on Türkocağı Street in Çankaya when a car with foreign license plates suddenly changed lanes after the vehicle in front braked abruptly, resulting in the driver hitting the unidentified man before fleeing the scene.

Female bus driver in Aegean province encourages women

Fatma Güngör, who became the only female bus driver in the Aegean province of Manisa some two months ago after she divorced her husband, has called on other women to earn their living and not be afraid. 

Güngör, who is 44 years old and has two children, said that she felt "reborn" after she was employed by the Manisa Transportation Co. (MANULAŞ) as a bus driver. 

Mitsubishi Electric establishes new company in Turkey to manufacture air conditioners

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation is set to establish a new company for the development and manufacture of room air conditioners in Istanbul, it said in a written statement on April 14. 

The company is scheduled to begin production in January 2018 in the Aegean province of Manisa with initial capital of 80.6 million Turkish Liras. 

Soma Holding chairman's estates on sale over debt default

Turkey's Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has opened to sale 14 immovable properties worth some 33 million Turkish Liras belonging to Soma Holding Chairman Alp Gürkan, who has failed to pay installments on his 34-million-lira debt to his workers since October 2015. Gürkan operated the controversial Soma mine during the 2014 disaster which claimed the lives of 301 miners.
