Ukraine drone hits Russian high-rise 1,000km from frontline

Kiev on Dec. 21 staged a major drone attack on the Russian city of Kazan, 1,000 kilometers from the frontier, the latest in a series of escalating aerial attacks in the nearly three-year conflict.

A drone smashed into a high-rise apartment building in the city of more than 1.3 million, damaging a skyscraper but leaving no victims, local officials said.

Russia downs 32 drones in biggest attack on Moscow

Russia downed 34 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow overnight, the city's mayor said Sunday, marking the largest attack on the capital since Russia began its offensive in Ukraine in 2022.

The attack forced the temporary closure of three Moscow airports, injured a 52-year-old woman, and set two homes on fire in the village of Stanovoye in the Moscow region, officials reported.

Ukrainian Drones Target Moscow, Russia Intercepts Multiple Attacks

Ukraine launched a series of drone attacks on Moscow and other regions in Russia. Moscow's regional governor, Andrey Vorobyov, confirmed that a woman was killed and another person was injured in the attack on the capital. Russian air defenses managed to intercept and destroy 14 Ukrainian drones that were targeting areas in Moscow and the nearby city of Podolsk, about 38 km from the Kremlin.

Russia repels large drone attack on Moscow

Russian air defenses shot down 11 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow, "one of the largest" such strikes ever against the capital, officials said on Wednesday.

"Eleven drones were destroyed" over Moscow and its surrounding region, the defense ministry said.

"This is one of the largest ever attempts to attack Moscow with drones," Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Moscow Targeted in Large-Scale Ukrainian Drone Offensive

Ukraine recently carried out one of its largest drone attacks against Moscow, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Russian air defense units managed to intercept and destroy at least 10 drones aimed at the capital. Sobyanin noted that there is no confirmed information yet on potential damage or casualties.
