Soma mining accident report proposals disregarded: CHP deputy
None of the proposals suggested in the report on the Soma mining disaster of May 2014 have been taken into consideration in any laws passed since the tragedy, main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Manisa deputy Özgür Özel has said.
Six dead after train collides with two SUVs north of New York
At least six people lost their lives after a collision of a passenger train with two oncoming vehicles in White Plains, north of New York.
Five of the victims were on board the train, while one of the SUV drivers has also been killed.
Couple killed in car crash while leaving funeral
A couple were killed in a car accident in Tsoukalaika, near Patra in the Peloponnese, while they were driving back from the funeral of the womans father.
The fatal accident occurred on the Patra-Pyrgos highway on Friday when the vehicle collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction.

Traffic accidents rise 1.3 pct in August, year-on-year
The number of traffic accidents in Greece that caused death or injury rose by 1.3 percent in August this year compared to the same month in 2013, figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Friday have shown.
In numbers, 1,059 crashes were reported in the last month of the summer this year, up from 1,045 last year.
16 Die in Coal Mine Collapse in Northwest China
Sixteen workers were killed after a coal mine collapsed in China's far western region of Xinjiang, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.
The accident occurred in the regional capital of Urumqi on Friday night when 33 workers were underground, the report said citing local officials. Eleven workers were injured and six escaped, it added.

An official report has concluded that a camerawoman driving the car in which a Lebanese-American journalist was killed in southeastern Turkey on Oct. 19 was the sole culprit in the accident.
Woman killed in horrific road accident near Thessaloniki
A 42-year-old woman was killed early on Tuesday in a horrific accident on Thessaloniki's ring road.
According to sources, the woman tried to cross the road at around 5.30 a.m. near Eptapyrgio where a car had been waiting to take her to work.
She was hit by a passing vehicle in a collision so intense that parts of her body were scattered across the scene.
12 more officials detained in Soma disaster probe
Twelve officials have been detained in a second wave of operations as a part of the probe into the Soma mine disaster, which claimed lives of 301 workers in May.

Activity begins at disaster-struck Soma mine with maintenance works
Workers began cleaning the disaster-struck mine in the western town of Soma on Sept. 11, only two days after officials gave the green light to the operator company to start production at a nearby site.
