Türkiye in talks with Exxon Mobil for LNG deal: Minister

Türkiye is in talks with U.S. energy company ExxonMobil over a multibillion-dollar deal to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG), Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has told the Financial Times.

Türkiye is seeking to build a "new supply portfolio" that will make it less reliant on any single partner, the minister told in an interview with the newspaper.

Turkey hopes to conduct a deep-sea oil drilling operation off the Somali coast in 2025, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Friday in an interview on broadcaster NTV.

Daily oil production in Gabar hits 40,000 barrels

The oil production facilities in the Gabar Mountain region of Şırnak broke the record in the history of the Turkish Republic with a daily production of 40,000 barrels.

"Today is an important day in the history of Türkiye," Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said in a statement on April 11.

The daily oil production from the Gabar field in Türkiye's southeast will increase from the current 37,000 barrels to 40,000 barrels at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said.

Total oil reserves in the Gabar region in the Şırnak province is 1 billion barrels, he said at a public gathering in Istanbul.
