Survey shows Slovenian online stores increasingly popular
Ljubljana – Online shopping has retained the popularity gained during the Covid-19 pandemic with three out of four of those questioned in a survey commissioned by Mastercard Slovenija saying they shop online at least sometimes. A growing number make their purchases at Slovenian sites.
Energy company NGEN gets capital injection, new co-owner
Žirovnica – NGEN, an energy system solutions company, has received a capital injection of EUR 70 million this year to finance its growth and expansion to new markets. The capital injection came from the conversion of a loan from one of its founders – crypto millionaire Damian Merlak, and from Boštjan Bandelj NGEN entering as a new partner.
Iskratel happy with 2021 results given situation
Kranj – Telecoms equipment maker Iskratel reported EUR 98.4 million in revenue for 2021, up 5.5% year-on-year. “Our business result was positive in what was a really challenging period,” Iskratel CEO Robert Kuzmič has told the STA. In light of developments at home and around the world, the group is satisfied with the results despite not having achieved the initial plans.

Slovenian households better off in 2021
Ljubljana – Slovenian households enjoyed a more comfortable life money-wise last year with official statistics showing the percentage of those who can make ends meet with ease rising by nine percentage points to 29%. Eight out of ten (81%) could afford a week-long holiday away from home, which could largely be attributed to tourism vouchers.

Consumer confidence unchanged in January
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s consumer confidence indicator remained the same on the monthly level in January, while it increased by five percentage points year-on-year, the Statistics Office said on Friday.

NLB management board expanded from three to six members
Ljubljana – The supervisory board of the NLB bank appointed on Thursday Hedvika Usenik, Antonio Argir and Andrej Lasič to the management board to expand it from three to six members. Their five-year terms will start after approval from banking regulator, and they will continue to serve as assistants to the management board until then.
Govt to sign cooperation memorandum with Google
Ljubljana – The government’s Digital Transformation Office will sign a memorandum of understanding with US internet giant Google on Thursday. The agreement will be the cornerstone document for Google’s investment in Slovenian know-how and solutions in the fields of digital transformation, social entrepreneurship and AI, the office said.

Water bottling company Costella up for sale
Ljubljana – The Swiss company Agrokor, which is in liquidation, is soliciting interest in the purchase of the Costella water bottling company, whose most valuable asset is a water extraction concession valid until 2035. The first non-binding bids for the company are expected in the coming days, the newspaper Finance reported on Thursday.
