Sports Illustrated Declares Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov as Disappointment of the Year

The US sports magazine Sports Illustrated identified the highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov as the disappointment of the year in men's tennis.

According to the magazine, "expectation is continuing to trounce achievement".

Bulgaria's best tennis player Grigor Dimitrov will play two matches at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open Tour Tuesday.

Dimitrov's first match will be against US player Donald Young, scheduled to start minutes before 2 pm at the second biggest court of the tournament.

Djokovic,Tipsarevic fall short of Miami doubles second round

MIAMI - Serbian tennis players Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic did not make it to the second round of the Miami Open men's doubles after they were edged by Austrian Jurgen Melzer and Swedish Robert Lindstedt 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

The doubles match on Friday evening marked Tipsarevic's return to competition after being sidelined by injury for one year and a half.

Tipsarevic returns after 18-month break

MIAMI - Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic has confirmed that he will play in the men's doubles category at the ATP Masters tournament in Miami, which will mark his return to the game after an 18-month break caused by an injury.

Tipsarevic will play alongside Novak Djokovic and face Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Juergen Melzer of Austria in the first round.

Troicki stopped in Vienna semi-finals

VIENNA - Serbia's Viktor Troicki did not make it to the finals of the ATP tournament in Vienna being outlasted by British Andy Murray 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.

Reaching semi-finals was Troicki's greatest success after a year off from competitive tennis, and now he will improve his current ranking on the ATP list (No. 127) by 10 spots.

Zimonjic loses in Shanghai second round

SHANGHAI - Serbian Nenad Zimonjic and Canadian Daniel Nestor lost in the second round of the ATP tournament in Shanghai on Wednesday.

Second seeds in the doubles competition were defeated by the Czech/Russian pair of Lukas Rosol and Mikhail Youzhny by 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

The prize fund of the 2014 Shanghai Rolex Masters totals USD 8.5 million.
