Ukraine said on Sunday that Russian troops were advancing in four areas in the east of the country amid "fierce fighting" but reported its forces moving forward in the south.
Deputy Defence Minister Ganna Maliar said that Russian troops were advancing near Avdiivka, Mariinka, Lyman and Svatove.

Wagner claims 'legal' capture of Ukraine's Bakhmut
Russia's Wagner paramilitary group on Monday claimed it had captured the city hall in Ukraine's eastern town of Bakhmut, giving it "legal" control, but Kiev said its forces still held the town.
The battle for Bakhmut has raged for months with Wagner supporting Russian troops and Ukraine warning the fall of the town would lead to the loss of huge swathes of its territory.

In the city in the Donetsk region, located about 90 kilometers from Bakhmut, there are still about 2,000 civilians left, out of the 30,000 who lived in that city before the war.
"I'm sorry to say this, but Avdivka looks more and more like a place from post-apocalyptic movies," wrote the head of the city's military administration Vitaly Barabash on the Telegram channel.
