The controversial relocation of ballot boxes will affect a total of 144,000 voters in the June 24 snap elections, Supreme Election Board (YSK) chairman Sadi Güven stated on May 28.

Supreme Election Board (YSK) Chairman Sadi Güven on April 30 sought to assure the security of ballot boxes ahead of Turkey's upcoming snap election. 

Catalan residents have started casting ballots under the referendum on the region's independence from Spain with polling stations having opened at 9:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT), a Sputnik correspondent reported on Sunday.

Scrutinizing the breakdown of the valid and invalid votes cast in the April 16 referendum based on two different reports, here are some notable aspects.

The Nov. 1 election turnout of Turkish nationals living abroad is around 44 percent, Turks Abroad and Related Communities Chair Kudret Bülbül said on Oct. 29, heralding a steady rise in recent elections. 

After voting at customs gates and airports is completed on Nov. 1, an attendance of 45 percent is expected, Bülbül told Anadolu Agency.

A total of 93 ballot boxes have been moved in Turkey's southeastern ??rnak province despite a previous decision by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) rejecting the relocation of polling stations for security reasons ahead of the upcoming Nov. 1 snap elections.
