Turkish, Japanese ministers discuss energy cooperation

Türkiye and Japan are planning to organize the Türkiye and Japan Energy Forum aimed at further boosting ties in the field of energy.

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar met with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Nishimura in Istanbul on Sept. 5.

Bayraktar and the Japanese minister discussed potential energy cooperation between Türkiye and Japan.

Athens not concerned by Turkish drillship mission

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has announced a new mission in the Mediterranean of the Abdulhamid Han drillship, which is the latest addition to the Turkish Petroleum Company's (TPAO) exploration fleet.

Given that it will operate within an area of Turkish jurisdiction, Athens is not concerned, and it will not affect the Greek-Turkish rapprochement. 

Kosovo acquires Baykar drone

Kosovo has recently become the latest country to acquire the Bayraktar TB2, Türkiye's first indigenous armed unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Baykar Technologies.

Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced the procurement of the drones, emphasizing that the investment in defense spending would "contribute to the safety of the nation."

Nevertheless, the genie is out of the bottle. If drones are a satisfactory way for the world's mightiest country to reduce the financial cost and risk of life loss, it is also tempting for demographically challenged Balkan countries to take care of their military requirements at an affordable price, and reduce the risk of losing shrinking manpower.

Kuwait signs contract with Turkey to buy $367 mln worth of drones

Kuwait has concluded a contract worth $367 million with Turkish defence firm Baykar to buy its TB2 drones through direct negotiations between the two governments, the Kuwaiti army said in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement did not reveal how many drones would be delivered to Kuwait or when.
