Bodrum's white against insects, blue against the evil eye

The century-old lily-white houses of Bodrum, a popular resort town in the western province of Muğla, are known for their wooden doors, blue windows and bougainvilleas.

It is popularly believed that the white paint of the houses, which give Bodrum such a distinctive look, keeps away insects while the blue windows combat the "evil eye."

Toby Robyns was detained at Bodrum airport on Friday on suspicion of "finding Turkish artefacts without notifying authorities", The Sun said.

Russian billionaire Akhmedov vacations at Turkish resort in Bodrum

The Russian businessman of Azeri origin Farkhad Akhmedov visited the Aegean province of Muğla on holiday with his family on Aug. 13.

The 62-year-old businessman enjoyed the Bodrum bay from the Turkish resort.

Photographs of him swimming and diving in the sea have been captured. Akhmedov also took a sunbath with his wife Tatyana and their three children.
