A man with Bulgarian citizenship and his family, who managed to leave the Gaza Strip and return to Bulgaria, landed at Sofia Airport last night. They are part of the group of 36 Bulgarian citizens and their family members who were taken out of Gaza two days ago.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation with the stranded 30 Bulgarian citizens who are in Volos, Greece. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel.

Bulgaria is in constant contact with the Greek authorities, she noted:

The Bulgarian ambassador to the UK, Marin Raykov, has received official confirmation from the British authorities that the three Bulgarians arrested on suspicion of espionage for Russia are in prison.

The Kremlin recruits Bulgarian students, inviting them to participate in projects, to travel and study in Russia, and then, as soon as it is convinced that they are "ideological", it offers them money. In front of the Ukrainian president, his Bulgarian colleague Rumen Radev described the war in Ukraine, repeatedly calling it a "conflict" (and in most cases avoiding the word "war"). Later, Zelensky - who noticed what words his colleague chooses - added: "This is definitely a war."

A solemn reception on the occasion of the Day of Russia took place yesterday at the Russian Embassy in Sofia, TASS reported, referring to its correspondent on the spot.

Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov and translator Angela Rodel were named on May 23 winners of the International Booker Prize with the novel "Time Shelter," a first for a book in Bulgarian.

Today, May 24, Bulgarians celebrate the Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and of Slavic literature.

The holiday will be marked with solemn celebrations throughout the country.
