Istanbul is currently enjoying one of the business periods in tourist season this year and first-time visitors to the city are on the rise, says Müberra Eresin, the chair of the Hotel Association of Türkiye (TÜROB).

The number of foreign tourists visiting Türkiye is likely to exceed its 2019 level, says Firuz Bağlıkaya, board chair of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).

"There is no doubt about it, we will surpass the 2019 level. We are expecting a new record," Bağlıkaya said.

Tourism professionals in the southern province of Antalya have suggested "lighting" to make museums and ruins more attractive for tourists who don't want to go out of the hotel in 40-degree heat in summer.

They stated that the number of visitors to museums and ruins would increase if these places were opened after being illuminated in the evening.

The Council of Ministers has approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and Jordan for tourism cooperation, said the government press office.

The decline in summer tourism this year is below the percent, said the Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova. As for the consequences of the Thomas Cook bankruptcy, she said that about 2500 - 3000 clients of the company are still in our country, but in days they will be transported to their homeland.

The government approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Tourism of the Arab Republic of Egypt as the basis for negotiations between the two countries.

Bulgaria is actively working to strengthen its position as a preferred destination among Russian tourists, Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova told Focus Radio from Moscow.

The mayors of several municipalities and regional authorities took part in Kazanlak in the establishment of a tourism management organisation for the Rose Valley region, Sliven Municipality said, reports Focus News Agency. 

Among the goals of the Bulgarian Minsitry of Tourism was holding a long-term policy for the sustainable development of tourism and the creation of a competitive tourism product with a recognisable national identity and preserved culture and nature.
