US President Barack Obama will try to "turn the tide" on the Ebola epidemic Tuesday by ordering 3,000 US military personnel to west Africa to curtail its spread as China also dispatched more experts to the region.

EU pledges 140 mn euros for Ebola-hit West Africa
The European Union on Friday announced 140 million euros ($183 million) in funds to fight the deadly Ebola virus in West Africa, a sharp increase over its previous aid as the outbreak worsens.
The commission said the aid was necessary to boost measures to stop the "worst ever outbreak of the epidemic" from ravaging Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria.

A 34-year-old citizen has been quarantined in a southeastern Turkish town, rekindling fears of a possible case of the Ebola virus.
The patient, who works in Uganda and was visiting his hometown, was taken to an isolated room at the infection service of Ãukurova University Balcalı Hospital in the Osmaniye province, Anadolu Agency reported Aug. 15.
