Gaza flotilla raid

An international trial on Israel's deadly 2010 raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla will be held on May 1, the flotilla's legal commission said on April 26.       

A Turkish charity foundation opened 17 new water wells in three African countries, it announced on Oct. 23.

Turkey on Sept. 30 "strongly" condemned Israel's "excessive and disproportionate" use of force against innocent civilians in Gaza Strip.

A Turkish woman is under arrest in Israel on suspicion of security offences, an Israeli official said on June 14.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry told the Israeli Consulate General in Istanbul to return to Israel “for some time” on May 16, after Israeli forces killed more than 60 Palestinians during protests on the Gaza border.

Turkey has asked Israeli Ambassador to Ankara Eitan Naeh to "temporarily leave the country" in reaction to the killing of scores of Palestinian protestors by Israeli security forces, while the Turkish envoy to Tel Aviv has arrived in Ankara after being called back for consultations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 14 condemned the "humanitarian tragedy" in Gaza, describing Israeli violence against Palestinian protesters as "genocide."

Iran on May 11 condemned Israel's air raids in Syria, saying they had been launched on "invented pretexts". 

A Turkish soldier on compulsory military service in the Marmara province of Bursa died on Nov. 29, 54 days after being beaten with a helmet by his senior.

Kemal Gümüş, a journalist for the Turkish daily Star, said on Nov. 23 that he was deported from Israel on grounds that he was among the passengers of the Mavi Marmara flotilla to Gaza in 2010 which was raided by Israeli forces.
