CHP lawmaker faces probe after Erdoğan criticizes his remarks over armed drone attacks

An Ankara prosecutor filed an indictment against main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul lawmaker Sezgin Tanrıkulu on Sept. 8, after he voiced concerns over allegations that an armed drone in the southeastern province of Hakkari shot four citizens, leaving one dead. 

Euro court finds Turkey guilty in communications interception case after CHP lawmaker files complaint

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled on July 18 that a Turkish court granting the National Intelligence of Turkey (MİT) permission to intercept all domestic and international communications between April 8 and May 30, 2005 constituted a violation of privacy in breach of the law.

Police who killed child sentenced to prison in Turkey's southeast

A police officer who shot and killed a 12-year-old child in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of Şırnak has been sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison. 

The special operations police officer, Mehmet N.G., was sentenced by the Cizre First Court of Serious Crimes for killing Nihat Kazanhan, Doğan News Agency reported on Nov. 11.
