Group of States Against Corruption

The new report issued on Tuesday by the Council of Europe's Group of States against Corruption, GRECO, said the Balkan country had improved its work to combat bribery and influence-trading, but hasn't achieved any progress in making political funding more transparent.

This is Council of Europe second compliance report on Romania; the first was issued in 2010.

BELGRADE - The Council of Europe's Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) commended Serbia in its latest compliance report for the efforts it has undertaken in the fight against corruption and implementation of the recommendations addressed by this organization.

BELGRADE - Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Tatjana Babic said Thursday that it is very important that the European Commission's latest progress report on Serbia underlines the need to provide the Agency with adequate tools, capacities and resources, and to follow up its recommendations.

The Council of Europe believes that an anti-corruption law passed recently in Greece is a “major step forward” for the country but has expressed reservations about whether a bill aimed at making party funding more transparent lives up to the recommendations made by its experts.
