One in eight Greek firms fined for undeclared labor
In the period from September 15 to October 31 the Labor Ministry in Athens imposed fines adding up to 60 million euros on enterprises found to be employing uninsured workers, according to data from the Artemis project released on Monday.
A total of 29,079 companies were monitored, of which one in eight (12.53 percent), or 3,645, were found to be employing undeclared workers.
Thessaloniki branch of Doctors of the World treats rising number of Greeks
Nongovernmental organization Doctors of the World (Medecins du Monde) is looking forward to reaching out to more uninsured Greeks at the Thessaloniki International Fair, which has ceded a pavilion to the healthcare activists for the third year in a row.
All hospitals to treat uninsured patients
Some 2 million Greeks without social insurance will be able to receive free treatment at state hospitals from next month as long as they get a referral from a doctor at the Primary National Healthcare Network (PEDY) which has replaced the national healthcare provider (EOPYY).

Targeting the thousands of uninsured vehicles

Some 700,000 uninsured vehicles are on Greeces roads according to the latest data compiled after the records of the ministries of Finance and Transport and the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies were cross-checked.

Free drugs for uninsured Greeks
There are between 1.9 and 2.4 million Greeks, or roughly 20 percent of the total population, without social insurance, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Wednesday as he announced plans to provide these people with free medicines.

Plan for social dividend to secure healthcare for uninsured citizens

The government has decided to use part of the so-called social dividend i.e. 525 million euros from Greeces 2013 primary surplus to provide a large proportion of uninsured citizens with healthcare coverage.
