A student looks at a list of university entrance examination results outside his school in Athens on Wednesday. Results pointed to an overall drop in performance, which critics attributed to the previous government's policies. In 132 of 459 university faculties, at least one of the new entrants failed to achieve what would normally be a pass grade.

A number of radical changes regarding entrance to universities in Turkey are on the way, with the announcement that 10 universities in the country have been determined as research-focused universities and that the current university entrance exam system will be completely changed. 

Greece must be among the few countries in the world (if not the only one) where the process of national university entrance exams is such a big deal, and is presented as front-page news by all of the media.
