Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and one of the richest men in the world, has celebrated his birthday with some exclusive people, including his fellow super-rich billionaire Jeff Bezos, in a private birthday party held in a Turkish cove.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has visited Turkey's southwest, disembarking his super-luxury yacht to take a short tour of the top tourist destinations in the region.

Gates, the world's fourth-richest person, went on a tour with a private helicopter after his Cayman Islands-flagged yacht was anchored off the resort town of Kuşadası.

The famed ancient city of Ephesus in Turkey's picturesque Aegean region attracts millions of tourists and history buffs every year. Ephesus was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2015.

The historical village of Şirince, which is visited by around 4,000 people daily in the spring months, has been silent for two months due to the outbreak.

Hollywood actress Liv Tyler visited the ancient city of Ephesus in the Aegean province of İzmir with her family on July 15.

Tyler, best-known for her performance in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy directed by Peter Jackson, departed from the Mediterranean province of Antalya by helicopter and arrived in İzmir's Selçuk district.   

Aegean province ?zmir's Selçuk district, home to the House of the Virgin Mary, which is a pilgrimage site for Christians, will soon have a massive statue of the mother of Jesus. 

Speaking at a tourism conference, Selçuk Mayor Zeynel Bak?c? said they had rolled up their sleeves for the construction of the structure. 

Sarkis Eken, an 86-year-old known as one of the oldest Armenians born and residing in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r, passed away at Dicle University's hospital, where he was receiving treatment. 

The wishing walls of the house of the Virgin Mary in ?zmir's Selçuk district are full of interesting wishes, such as a car that doesn't overheat and has good handling, as well as other wishes reflecting those of society for peace, wealth and happiness. 

Residents of the small Turkish town of Selçuk, located in the western province of İzmir, will be honored to host the visit of Pope Francis on Nov. 28, the town’s mayor said Nov. 15.
