Canada: Bodies at Indigenous school not isolated incident

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on May 31 it's not an isolated incident that over 200 children were found buried at a former Indigenous residential school.

Trudeau's comments come as Indigenous leaders are calling for an examination of every former residential school site, institutions that held children taken from families across the nation.

Court sentences father to 12 years in prison for child abuse, drops other cases

A court in Ankara has sentenced a father to 12 years and three months in prison for sexually abusing his son and for inappropriate behavior against his youngest daughter, but has dismissed the alleged abuse cases related to his three elder daughters due to the "statute of limitation."

Man arrested in Rafina Port for physically abusing dog

Officers of the Rafina Port Authority on Thursday detained a 39-year-old man alleged to have physically abused a dog. The suspect was arrested after a local resident informed the authorities about the alleged abuse, details of which were not made public.

Penalties for animal abuse have been toughened several times in recent years as cases have proliferated. 

Assailants fire into air by house of sexual abuse victim after offender rearrested

The house of a 16-year-old sexual abuse victim, whose assailant was re-arrested after being freed despite being sentenced to a prison term, was attacked on Oct. 4 by two men who fired bullets into the air near her dwelling in the Marmaraereğlisi district of northwestern province of Tekirdağ.
